2004 Yamaha TTR-90....Good choice ?
I just bought my son a 2004 TTR-90 for $900. It runs great. This is his first dirt bike. 2 questions...Did I give a fair price for it and is this a good choice for a first bike for a 9 year old? Thanks

I'm not to sure about the price you paid for it i would have went around 500$ max..a lot of people think of it as okay it's an 04 so it's worth something. What you have to say to the seller to make them understand is for one it's a kids bike, kids beat on bikes like that EXTREMELY bad because they don't know how to ride which destroys clutch and engine conditon. That and i mean it's a kid he's going to beat on it because a kid doesn't care and doesn't know. For two it's an extremely small cc size bike so that meaning he may have payed 2 grand for it brand new but since it's so small and in used condition it's now worth WAY less than when it was brand new. Then for three on small kids bikes like so unless the kids parents know how to take care of a dirt bike no one ever ever seems to do the regular maintenance like oil changes, valve adjustments, change of fluids such as brake or tranny. Last for four all kids bikes aren't very reliable because they have poor designs (lower to ground allows alot more mud and water to enter) and aren't designed to last for long periods of time like a bigger bike will.
For your right choice question it's a decent choice but what really is a big factor is the size of your child just height and weight he may only be 9 but kids these days grow like weeds so if i were you i probably would have botten the TTR 110 or something it's bigger but still a beginner bike all TTR's are beginner bikes no matter the size really. but all in all u didn't do to bad on the price and made a good choice on the bike..but next time u buy a bike for your kid always buy the size bigger than what you want anyone can handle a big bike it's just how comfterble they feel on it plus learning on bigger bikes really lets people know their boundries
