considering that you cannot patent a perpetual motion device, how could you cash in if you had one?
yes i know it cant be done but still...

There's no law that you can't patent a perpetual motion device. In fact, many people have done just that, even though such a thing is impossible.

I believe that the Patent Office doesn't refuse to issue patents on perpetual motion devices. It does, however, require a working model of the device in order to issue the patent.
