Why can't I get this laptop to connect to wireless net, but I can get 2 pcs to work just fine?

Computer: ASUS Notebook G73Jh Series

Windows 7 SP1 64bit (OS was in pc when built)

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6250 AGN (wireless nic)

Router: NETGEAR WNR1000

I am trying to get my brother's laptop to connect to Dad's wireless network at home. Being the only computer guy in the family, I was the one that setup the wireless network here in the first place, so one would think that I would have no trouble getting this to work. First I connected a computer in Dad's office, and it was a bit of a pain learning how the device works. That was over a year ago. Earlier this year, I connected my computer to Dad's network, wirelessly, and I had no problems. Yesterday, I tried to get my bro's computer online- should have taken me no more than 2 hours and I have spent over 4 trying to figure it out.

I do not use the router as a DHCP, so everything is static. I use an Access List. I made sure I have the correct MAC Address and computer name for all devices. The router is auto channel, using WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK encryption and verified all devices are using the same key. And the router gets it IP automatically from ISP.

I have tried adding and removing DNS client from the laptop.

It will connect to a near by unsecured network, but not the one that is right here (the laptop is literally 1ft away from Dad's router).

Update:

The laptop can see Dad's network just fine, and I have the SSID kept from being broadcasted. If I put in the wrong key, the laptop will put up a message telling me that it doesn't have the correct credentials for that network. There isn't any software put on my brother's laptop to allow him to sniff out network info. And I have the same problem regardless if it is plugged in and have power save mode disabled.

The problem has to be with all the security you enabled. I think a MAC filtering access list is really not needed if you are using WPA no one is going to get though that believe me my friend next door we always use to bet each other to see which on can get in there network just do not use WEP takes only two minuets to crack that. So try setting the security to a standard WPA with TKIP or PSK it doesn't matter, if the wireless card in the laptop is old its possible that it doesn't support WPA2 or even WPA. So try using WEP with MAC filtering
