Syria took around 250 Palestinian refugees before closing their borders. The Arab rulers are highly insensitive to Palestinian suffering, even as the Arab people profess sympathy for their plight. It could be compared to the refusal of European countries to take Jewish refugees. Tragic, but what can we do? It is hardly the refugees' fault.

And why not? What is the problem with having a special agency for Palestinian refugees?

So the UN is blamed for giving "extra" care for the Palestinians, Arab countries are blamed for giving little or no care at all, Palestinians are blamed because some (22%) fled in fear of getting killed by Zionist thugs and Israeli soldiers, but only Israel who expelled the majority of them (73%), and until this day blocked their return is not to be blamed at all! Does everything work upside down there in Israel?

the israelis are envying the Palestinians for having THEIR OWN UN agency(UNRAW) to take CARE of them........will the Palestinians do not mind a swap.........Return their Palestine land and have the (UNRAW) and perhaps some thing more.

I've never found it fair, working with Darfurian and Sudanese refugees, that they use the world's refugee organization and the Palestinians have one custom-tailed to their crisis. And, I'd argue that theirs has only prolonged their suffering, not helped it.

If the UNHCR took care of the Palestinian case, I'd bet that they would've gotten sh*t done. I even bet that the UNHCR would rather deal with Israel than the countries their refugees originate from, especially since Israel is more on the beneficiary side of those, anyway.

@Needfulsinner - Those bodies are for unique topics. UN has a unique Refugee body too. BUT PA ARABS have their very own, funded more than for ALL the other refugees in the world combined.

It's like a UN group for children's rights, and 1 just for S. African children who are now over 45 years old.

Also unique for PA Arabs - the only group calling later descendants "refugees." No other group in the world gets that "right."

PA Arab refugees in Syria and Lebanon are keep forced into camps, without voting rights or rights to hold most jobs. Yet, no one's protesting to support those poor PA Arabs... only when they can beat up against Israel, not protest against Lebanon or Syria.

Have you ever walked through a West Bank PA refugee camp? It's just a few streets attached to a city, no entry area, just walk 1 block over from the nicer neighborhood. It's just crummier housing & lower class neighborhood, of people who didn't work hard to get good jobs and move up. Very similar to the low end neighborhoods where I am. I saw the cutiest brand-new fuzzy animal slippers on this little boy, & decent cars (compared to mine).... They get paid to stay there and keep the image of refugee alive.

6 months after Holocaust, the refugees had jobs, and were contributing businesses to the outside communities around them.

Shame on the PA leadership for being this slow to focus on the future and self-responsibility... and admit they lost the war to make the area Arab ruled, Jews subservient. And move on. What a great place it'd be if everyone was working together!

If it's deemed people, or a peoples, or an issue needs 'special' help, why not give it. I don't see a problem or issue with it provided nobody's suffering by it and in the end there's less conflict or hardship in the world as a result.

There are only a few thousand refugees left. The bulk of 'refugees' were born outside of Israel, and many weren't even born west of the Jordan river. They're now Jordanians, Lebanese etc. without voting rights.

AND YET THERE WERE 800,000 JEWISH REFUGEES FROM ARAB COUNTRIES OF WHICH ISRAEL ACCEPTED MANY AND MANY OTHER COUNTRIES THE WORLD OVER ABSORBED.

IT IS SO OBVIOUS WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE. THE ARABS DO NOT WANT ANY OF THEIR REFUGEES ABSORBED BY ANY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN ORGANISATION SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE SURE THAT NONE ARE ABSORBED. IF THEY WERE UNDER THE UN REFUGEE UMBRELLA LIKE EVERY OTHER REFUGEE IN THE WORLD THEY WOULD HAVE TO ACCEPT CITIZENSHIP TO OTHER COUNTRIES. OF COURSE THIS WOULD NOT SERVE THEIR PURPOSE.

SO THE RESULT IS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN THEIR COFFERS ( MORE THAN LIKELY FINDING THEIR WAY TO ORGANISATIONS SUCH AS AL QAEDA) AND A BIG BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO CAN STAY ANGRY FOREVER.
