Idioms involving dogs?
I want to compile a list of English language idioms that involve dogs. Here's a couple examples:
If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. means "If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen."
I've got to see a man about a dog. Means "Excuse me while I go urinate."
Other languages are ok, too.

Um. Where I come from the saying ``I`ve got to see a man about a dog`` means - make a business transaction, or discreet inquiry which you do not wish to disclose. Its an excuse to go off and do something without explaining your whereabouts. Of course, I guess for some, that could include urination :-)
Other sayings:
Take the dog hunting......Means - PTS (ie take it out and shoot it)
Dog days of summer .....means lazy, hot days when dogs are usually lying about
Straw Dog....................a mock up of assumptions that formulates a hypothesis, to be disproved or debated - used in business
Diamond Dog..............a reference to the dog owned by Sir Isaac Newton...also a David Bowie record

Was Jesus simply "chasing his own tail" when HE decided not to become involved in politics??? Certainly he, who you've already stated you believe was God in the flesh, could've been the perfect leader, yet he refused the position. Why didn't he tell the Apostles to become involved with the Governments?? I've never said Everyone in politics is corrupt Because they aren't Witnesses. Firstly, NO ONE is perfect, secondly, a worldly expression I've heard before is, How do you know when a politician is lying?? When his mouth is moving. The very arena of politics begs for dishonesty.
