if done with a needle, is it safe to get your cartilage pierced?

I want to get my cartilage pierced, but I am a bit nervous. I have heard that it can get infected, or damage your ear. I have heard that it is safer when done with a needle. Should I get it pierced?

i'm 13 and i have 2 cartilage done with a needle and a nose done with a needle. yes the needle is a whole lot cleaner then a gun is. the gun is used over and over again well a needle is a one use kind of thing. it may cost more to get it done but its better. and when you get pierced with the needle you get pierced with a hoop or horse shoe piercing witch is better then the butteryfly backing. the hoop/horse shoe piercing lets puss and other stuff come out while the butteryfly backing keeps it in there.

b4 i got my helix(cartilage) done i did research on everything and what is better the needle or the gun.

My sister had her ears pierced with a hot needle at the home of a friend, and she's been fine for decades, no problems ever, still wears pierced earrings, etc.

The adult who did it placed a potato behind the ear, heated a needle over fire, then used ice to freeze the earlobe before sticking a needle through it.

Well, my friend pierced my cartilage in middle school with a regular piercing earring... I'm 22 now and I still have it in. Lol. Never got infected. and I never really had anything to clean it with except unscented soap and water. Lol., go for it.
