How to find missing photos from memory card?

I have a memory for my digital camera, when I insert it into my computer and view the contents the newest pictures are not shown. I have never seen any error messages on the computer or camera. I can view the pictures in the camera but cannot see all of them on the computer. the photos are separated out by date taken in folders. but I can only see four out of the six that should be there. I have not deleted any since the most recent ones that I am looking for have been taken. I have tried using a usb connection to the computer from the camera and also inserting the card directly.

Update:

I tried up loading all that were showing then deleting all. Still nothing. I cannot back up what I cannot upload in the first place. I already formated the memory card before taking pictures. Thanks for your answers but none of that has worked yet. I ended up just doing it on another computer. I have tried everything short of a recovery program which I was trying to avoid. Thanks anyway.

When you download your pics to your computer, you should always back them up and format your card in the camera, I do not do this every single time, but always after a have taken tons of pics.

try this ...Download the program http://www.recuva.com/? You must not take anymore pictures on your card. You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader.Put the card in the card reader, open the recuva program, the welcome to the recuva wizard will open, click on next. next box, choose 'pictures', click on next, next box choose 'on my media card' click next. See the words 'enable deep scan' click on start. Wait, for it to do it's magic.

You need to use a card reader either one already in your computer (some have one, some don't). Or buy an external USB card reader. They are around 10.00 and can be found at walmart, bestbuy, frys, probably target.

The problem with built in card readers is that they will usually only read up to a 2G card.

I was not able to recover photos by hooking the camera up to the pc with the usb cord, it just won't work.

This is the important part. Choose the pics you want to recover, then choose recover, a box comes up asking where you want to save to. Choose documents/my pictures or wherever you want to save your pictures too. The pictures ONLY save to your pc and not the card.

Format your card in the camera after you have retrieved your photos and backed them up to an external source.

I'm guessing that you didn't format your memory card in your camera when you first got it? This sets up the proper file/folder structure. An unformatted card will work fine at first, but eventually corrupts (with lost pictures) as additional pictures are added and deleted to the card.

But you may still be able to recover your lost photos with recovery software. See the following:

    http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recoverin...

After you've recovered and backed up all the photos that were on the card onto your computer, format the card IN THE CAMERA to rejuvenate it and prevent this from happening again.

Sometimes static electricity can "zap" the card. You will have to use an image recovery program to recover the corrupted images ... Something happened between taking the card out of the camera to placing it in the card reader ... If the camera was turned on, this could be the problem .. if you are in the habit of deleting unwanted images off the card with it is still in the camera, this can cause corruption as well. For now, use a different card until you can recover the images on your 4GB card

    Hi there!

well this is not really a problem, do one thing upload the photos to your computer you currently have and then erase them from your memory card and then use the memory card again ,click.... what is happening is that your memory cards memory is full and the camera is not showing that update! so the camera clicks those pictures but it is not saved!

Hope this helps you, Never stop clicking!

To recover accidentally deleted pictures from digital camera, you can connect digital camera's memory card to computer, then download 001 picture recovery program which is outstanding among all picture recovery software.

Most camera has a built in memory, try taking out the card from the camera then checking if the pictures are still viewable in your camera, if it is then its on your camera's internal memory.

try searching how to transfer images from internal memory to your card by the cameras manual.

    good luck!
