If you were looking for an "outside" pet, you shouldn't have gotten a dog. They are social animals that like to be inside with people, not out alone in the elements.
If you want him to stop you have to get him to realize that barking and scratching won't do any good, you need to leave him alone when he does that. But again, the dog clearly doesn't want to be left outside, it's pretty mean. I sure hope you don't live somewhere with a cold winter.

Don't let him stay outside! He's a dog! Dogs are a part of the family! Let him in :) This way, he'll stop scratching the door and barking.

Bring your poor dog indoors, or set up a proper outside kennel, with heating when the nights are cold, so he's not at the back door. And for the sake of your neighbours, if he's noisy out there at night, you will need to bring him in before youi are reported!! Can't he be crated at night, indoors?

WORKING dogs often live outside in an excellent environment working for & with their humans.
PET dogs should NOT live outside. Period.
Bring the dog in and kennel it. The animal is desperate for human attention. Dogs are DOMESTICATED & require human companionship to thrive.
Why the hell would you get a dog and throw it outside?
Witless.

Understanding how to train your dog and how to correct bad behaviours is very important. That's why I suggest to follow a good training course. There are plenty of books and training material. One online course I recommend (I like it because it has hundreds of videos) is http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572
It helped me a lot.

The poor guy wants in. I hope he at least has an insulated dog house full of warm dry bedding.

My dog does that if he's desperate. You can say ''NO'' to him very strictly to ensure him it's wrong. You have to do this repetitive
