How long will 5000 USD let me travel in Latin America?

I'm saving money now, but I want to start traveling as soon as possible. I'm planning to save 7000 USD, and have already set aside 2000 of that for plane tickets, which is hopefully an overestimate as I plan to fly in and out from Managua. I want to see as many countries as possible. I want to go where the road takes me, so I'm not planning very much of it, but I want to go to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil. Please don't tell me I shouldn't travel to some of these countries, because it is a long-standing dream of mine. I want to budget travel, spending as little money as possible per day. If I stay in hostels and don't spend money on alcohol, how long do you think 5000 USD will let me travel for in Latin America? Should I postpone the trip even longer in order to save more?

I have travelled Sth America for 2yrs. Brazil is much more expensive than other countries like Peru. In general you will need $10usd per day for a budget hotel or hostel bed and another $10 for food etc, some days you will need a little more for tours and buses etc. I could last 6 months on that kind of money. And by the way you wont see everything you want to see in 6 months, you need much more time! I have been 2yrs and have a lot more to see. You need a good 1-2 months in each country!

    Hello,

I tell you from experience, I currently live in Panama, I've been to Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, most of this countrys are a lot more cheap than what your used to paying for regular things, fast food, restaurant food, is much more cheap than in other countrys.

Here in Panama, you can get real cheap food in street restaurants, 3-5 dollars for a dish, if you want to eat better, You can go to a fancy restaurant and it will go for around 10-15 dollars for a dinner or so.

If your really decided to come, shoot me an email, I'll try to give you as much details as I can so you enjoy your trip: taxarod@yahoo.com

Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Panama, are not cheap as you imagine, if you want to go to these countries you said, you will need to save so much money than 7,000 dollars.
