What negatively affects glaucoma?

I am a 24 year old male who has had glaucoma since 18. I find that (well clearly) that not being on drops has the worst affect, but what substances or anything else can harm the eyes. I hear that caffeine does.

    The negative effects of Glaucoma.

    1. The eye pressure can rise and the person may not feel it and have no pain, if the eye pressure is extremely high the person may feel eye pain but the damage may have been done to the optic nerve.

    2. If the glaucoma isn't under control. and the optic nerve is damaged, the optic nerve can not be repaired, the person may start losing their side vision, as more damage is done to the optic nerve they will lose more vision from the side but it will work toward the center of the eye leading to blindness. This often happens when people don't know that they have glaucoma and who do not have regular eye check ups.

    3. The body may get use to the glaucoma eye drops and then may need stronger eye drops.

    4. Some people may have to take pills to control the pressure in the eye, which may have side affects.

    5. Some people may need an eye operation to control the pressure in the eye, (by helping the eye to drain more fluids). Like a plumbing job.

    4. If someone needs other operations on the eye, the eye pressure can rise, but the surgeon will give the patient some pills for a very days to lower the pressure until the eye has recovered from the operation. But there might be a risk that the eye pressure will not lower.

Bending forward and lifting heavy objects or straining to do something may temporary increase the eye pressure, this applies after an operation.

Unless your eye doctor told your to avoid caffeine, I wouldn't worry about it.

The important thing is to take the medicine, even when we are sick or tire.

I had a friend who went blind from glaucoma, because he didn't know he had it.

Keeping it under control is the best way to protect your eye sight.

One of the newest things we know about glaucoma is that the damage to your nerve occurs when the difference between the pressure in your eyes and your blood pressure is lowest. Your blood pressure is lowest at night. Anything that would cause your blood p-ressure to go even lower would be bad.
