Is our dog insecure and...?

We got "Chance" from a shelter about three months ago. He's a two year old Shepard- Border Collie mix. He's a really cool dog, loves to play ,go for rides and walks. My wife thinks he is insecure because he follows us around the house. If I get up to go to the bathroom he waits by the door until I'm finished. He'll follow us around the house whenever one of us gets up. She wants to get him a Thunder thing to wrap around him but I'm not sure about that. Also do I play with him to much? I'm a 56 yo kid and I play tug of war and keep away with him quite abit. He'll walk up to me with a pull toy set it in my lap. Well now let the games begin! But I'm just wondering if you can play with a dog to much.

No you cant play wityh a dog too much . He just wants to be near to you . Also he has come from a shelter , and probably been abandoned in the past . Hence why he is following you , yes maybe a little insecure that he will be dumped again .

Dogs need to stay active all the time and always hydrated.its normal if a dog follows you everywhere because every dog does that.

you have a mix of dogs that need exercise and a job to do

most will follow owner to see what they can do

    not this dog

That's totally normal for his breed! He is loyal to you, that's why he follows you around everywhere. Take it as a complement. :)
