Is Saving Private Ryan really the greatest thing since the wheel was invented?
?
*Great sniper scene when the country boy lies waiting in the rain while the German in the bell tower scopes the area only to see a glint off another scope but too late! He sees the flash and then kerchunk (light travels faster than sound or a bullet) brilliant.
*cons - I thought the letting the SS guy go was overplayed as a scene and also when he showed up again (I didnt like that scripted into the story at all). Tom Sizemore good as ever as was Hanks of course.

Greatest thing? No
Great Movie? Absolutely. I love Saving Private Ryan, it moved me. I was fascinated by the actors and how well they played their parts. My favorite character was Tom Sizemore's. It was probably the last good thing he did before ruining his life and career with Heidi Fleiss.
I watch it 3-4 times a year. But I think Band of Brothers was better. Just saying.

Outstanding movie...but not sure about "greatest thing since the wheel"....
....The fact that it lost Best Picture to "Shakespeare in Love", however, was a great indication of just where our Culture and Values were in Bill Clinton's America...

I really liked it but I prefer Blackhawk down more. It's still a great movie though, definitely worth watching.

it's a great movie, but the wheel actually serves a purpose other than entertainment
