Do people seriously consider pizza a vegetable now?

I've heard that in America pizza is now considered a vegetable. Personally, I think that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Here are my reasons:

1. Just because something has a vegetable on it, that does not make it a vegetable. That is like saying wine is a fruit because it is made from grapes.

2. Fruits and vegetables do not have any cholesterol. Pizza has cheese, and often pepperoni as a topping (only animal products contain cholesterol). Pizza has cholesterol and therefor cannot be a vegetable.

3. A tomato is scientifically classified as a fruit, because of the seeds.

What do you think about the topic? I personally think it is just a way for unhealthy people to continue eating unhealthy, and count it as a vegetable.

It is also a way or the schools to keep selling crappy food, and advertise it as healthy.

Opinions?

BTW I'm also asking this in the food section.

The neo-cons also think that condiments are vegetables. On their list, besides pizza, is ketchup and pickles.

These are the same folks who discovered a previously unknown tribe of people: corporations. What reality to them is, well, unreal.

You have to understand the PURPOSE of the classification.

The retrospective epidemiologic data link intake of 10 or more servings of fruits and vegetables with lower cardiovascular and cancer incidences, due to the phytochemical and nutrient content. Thus, however this is deliverable is of merit.

The actual nutrient and phytochemical content from tomatoes in pizza is quite high since the pulp is concentrated into tomato paste. Compare this to say a piece of candy, or a french fry, or a slice of white bread, which are nary devoid of phytochemical or nutrient content.

If you were to compare a population which ate vegetables at all versus those which ate classic empty foods, you'd be celebrating "pizza". Overdoing the fattening toppings pretty much negates the benefits, but "everything in moderation".

Who stated vegetables would desire to be seen healthful to proceed to be a vegetable. even although, i'm skeptic the place to procure your information on pizza formally transforming into a vegetable. It has vegetable, yet pizza itself won't be able to be seen a vegetable, this is illogical because of the numerous components blended(cheese, bread, ect.).

I don't know, but I live in Canada, and they removed all the unhealthy food from schools. Seems like Americans are getting unhealthier, while Canadians are getting healthier.
