I need desperate help sick puppy!?

Before i get the riot act on how i need to take him to the vet, I have NUMEROUS TIMES. The vet keeps giving me meds that do not work. And im so sick of it. Hes pooping blood again, and he is dropping allot of weight. Hes a 3 month old miniature pischer. Heres some back ground, when i got him he had papers stating he was healthy, come to find out the papers were wrong. He had inflamed intestines and a upper respiratory infection. Which he cleared. And does not have it any more. I took him to the vet yet again for diarrhea and loss of weight he gave me pills to constipate him, and amoxicillin. The pills did not constipate him, and the amoxicillin did not coat his stomach very well. So i started giving him small doses of pedialyte every few hours. So he stays hydrated. Hes not interested in his food at all really. Ive tried wet food and dry food. And the vet still has not helped me. Im going crazy here! Is there anything i can do to help my puppy!? I need him to gain weight hes only 6 pounds, and i really need him to stop having diarrhea. Im hoping by gods miracle he gets better. So anyone please help. And I heard tamiflu helps parvo, but my vet swears its not parvo. Ive only had him a month and a half and hes been to the vet atleast 4-6 times.

Update:

Not to be rude but i said i need real help, not people telling me to go online. I posted on here which is online. Its 5 am i cant exactly get to a vet right now :( If anyone has any REAL advice itd be great..

Update 2:

Okay mama bas if you read my freaking paragraph youd know the BREEDER gave me a FAKE health certificate. An IM NOT STUPID. You really need to read befor you comment on things.

I wouldn't go back to that vet but I would call him and let him know that the medicines are not working (a phone call should not cost you anything). When my puppies have diarrhea/weight lose I put them on a product called FortiFlora, of which, can only be purchased from a vet. Within two to four days the diarrhea should end and you should notice a small amount of weight gain. If my pups stop eating I soak a quality puppy food in warm water and then mash it with a potato masher or put it

in a blender. I want the dog food runny enough to put in a syringe (discard the needle) and place

the syringe in the side of the dog's mouth and inject the food into his mouth. I purchase my

syringes from a feed store. I don't continue to try different dog foods since a puppies digestive system is so sensitive unless my vet tells me to. The only thing I can think of regarding the bleeding is his rectal area is, most likely, bleeding because of his diarrhea. I put a triple antibiotic cream

around that area to help sooth and heal but I gently wash/dry the area first. Until you can see your

vet, do you have some Pepto in the house. I usually give a pup Pepto if I don't have any Fortiflora

in the house and sometimes the Pepto works but the Fortiflora has been the best product I have

ever used but it is spendy.

I have the box of FortiFlora in front of me and the benefits read as follows:

Contains a source of live (viable) naturally occurring microorganisms

Proven to promote intestinal health & balance

Nutritional supplement for dietary management of dogs with diarrhea

    Promotes a healthy immune system

This product is a Purina product and for questions you can email Purina.com or call 1 800 879 1299

Have you had you pup checked for worms? The product that I use is Panacur, of which, kills all

worms (round, whip, tape, etc). Here is some food for thought, to help save some money

on prescriptions call Walmart and ask them if they carry the medicine your doctor is prescribing.

Walmart will ask the product name, quantity, dosage (milligrams). You can also ask them if they have a generic brand, of which, is less expensive. What I have found is that you usually pay much

more for prescriptions from the vet. When looking for a new vet tell the clerk that you get your prescriptions from an outside source, like Walmart, then ask the clerk if that is acceptable. If they

say "no" then keep looking for another vet. Some vets do and some don't. I also ask for a vet

that has been a vet for a long time. I really don't want someone fresh out of school to work on

    my animals.

Well, I hope this information will be of some help--Good Luck!

You need a new vet. Or at least a second opinion. What should happen with these symptoms is the vet should have given you a shot to stop the diarrhoea, an anti inflammatory (not to make him constipated!!), just to encourage a normal stool production. The amoxicillin is an antibiotic, and nothing to do with coating the stomach, but should/may have helped to hit the bug (if there is one) causing all this.

Have you had a fecal test done - has he been wormed? Your vet should be checking for worms, or even protozoa (such as Giardia which will produce runny bloody stools). Both can be treated. Given his age, he will go down very fast unless these symptoms are stopped and the real reason for this diagnosed. Your vet should be able to diagnose parvo!! so if he says it's not, then assuming he's a qualified vet, it's not Parvo.

Meanwhile he should be on a bland diet, boiled rice and chicken or white fish. In small amounts so you don't overload his sensitive system. And give him a little natural yogurt which is a pro-biotic and good if he's on antibiotics.

You do NOT need to research this online. This only comes under the heading of 'a little knowledge is a dangerous thing'. You need a decent vet who can look at your pup, run all the tests he needs to (fecal, full blood work-up) and give you a CORRECT DIAGNOSIS.

And have you spoken to his breeder because he should know what's going on, especially if this puppy started this from day one of you having him. He wasn't healthy if so. But again, in defence of them, if you switched his diet from what he'd been eating with his breeder, without doing it gradually, that could be all that was needed to start all this off!!

I would also suggest seeing a different vet. I had several vets say my dog was limping just because of something in her shoulder without doing any testing. I finally found a vet that did x-rays and found it was actually in her neck. You just need to find a vet that WANTS to find the answer and will listen to you. Vets listening to you and hearing your concerns is a huge thing when picking the right vet for you animals.

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic, so I would say it is most likely that that was for the infection. They do have several meds that do coat the stomach. I can't remember the names of all of the ones that they put my dog on the last time I brought her in. She was throwing up AND pooping straight blood. I know that one of the meds was called endosorb and was for the diarrhea, but he said it would also coat the stomach as well. They also had me put her on very bland food. Vet offices sell special GI specific can food that is very bland and easy on the digestive tract. It is a little pricey, but just enough to get you through a few days might make an improvement if you could also get him on something to coat the stomach. Another alternative would be just bland boiled chicken with rice, no seasonings at all. It is very easy on their stomach as well. If your vet won't listen to you about wanting to try a medicine like that, then it is even more urgent that you find a vet that will listen.

I looked up the other meds they gave her. One of them was Famotidine which is similar to zantac for dogs. They also gave her Sucralfate/carafate which is for ulcers throughout the digestive tract. I will include the link to the info on that med in the sources. I know this doesn't help you immediately tonight, but hopefully it will give you some ideas to mention to a vet.

You are obviously not happy with the way this vet you've been taking your dog to, has been providing treatment for your dog. The only other option that you have, is to take your puppy to a different vet for a second opinion. You need to find out what is going on with this puppy before he gets worse and you lose him. What kind of testing did this vet do on your puppy? Was any bloodwork done? If so, what were the results? If not, you need to get extensive bloodwork done because through the bloodwork, it will give the vet an idea of what may be wrong. Maybe another vet will be able to find a problem that the first vet could not. I hope that you get this all figured out and get this puppy back to normal. Where did you get this puppy from?

Try a high quality canned puppy food and heat it for a few seconds in the microwave. This makes the aroma stronger and canned foods require a little less work to eat. Sick puppies in general don't have alot of energy, add having a hard time breathing to that and eating becomes a real stress because it's either eat or breath. And contact your vet just to let them know how things are going as he may have some recommendations.

My puppy started having diarrhea with bloody stools. I stopped his regular food (wet) and started him on rice that I had boiled in water together with a boneless, skinless chicken breast - the chicken helps flavor the rice. I also kept the water I cooked the rice in to add to the rice everytime I warmed it up, plus it gave him some added liquid into his system. I kept him on just the rice for two days. On the third day I added small pieces of the cooked chicken breast and a teaspoon of pumpkin ( NOT the mix used for pies) use real canned pumpkin. I fed him this mixture, rice-chicken & pumpkin several times a day. By the fifth day his poop was getting better and by the end of the week he was back to normal. I have taken him off wet dog food, and feed him kibble called Healthy extensions by Vets Choice. It has been 2 months now and all has been well - no diarrhea and he has been gaining weight.

First of all I would contact the people you got him from, was there a health agreement between you two, More or less like a warranty. And second You really need to take him to another vet, this one is just out for your money. Check out this web site, it is a list of meds that you can give dogs. It was given to me by my vet. http://www.diamondpaws.com/health/drugs.htm

But please find another vet before something worse happens, Best of luck to you

I understand its early morning, try the web site I gave you, there might be something in the list you can give him until you can contact another vet.

Another thing you can try is giving him a little bit of canned pumpkin maybe a 1/2 tsp a day, but make sure it is pure pumpkin, it will help with diarrhea.

I really feel for you. I understand about the vet and all that money and treatment and not getting any results. My only suggestion is that think about your little puppy as a human. I think maybe I would try a small dose of probiotic. I don't know, but I think I would try another vet. Just like we do when we don't like the treatment a doctor prescribes for us. Get another opinion. Sorry I could not be more help

I'm sorry but if this was parvo your dog would be dead. Your vet is a complete idiot, you need to find a new one.
