What champagnes for New Year's?

I'm looking for cheap, grocery store champagnes to try on New Year's Eve. The only champagne I've ever had and love is Ballatore.

I hate sweet wines/champagnes and am looking for something medium to dry.

Suggestions? What's your favorite cheapo bubbly?

Martini & Rossi Asti Spumanti (I think that's how its spelled) Its an inexpensive sparkling wine that pops like champagne is not too sweet. You could find it in a well stocked super market.

Champagnes are NEVER cheap. A good one if you ever want to splurge is Moet Chardon.

    Cheers!

Go with an Italian Prosecco or Spanish Cava. Real champagne is far more costly. I recommend a prosecco. Valdo or Collabrigo. If you prefer the Spanish options, Codorníu or Frexinet.

Actually, we are going with a Cava (a Spanish bubbly). I think it has a better QPR (quality price ratio) than Champagne.\\.

Cooks and Andre both make a ‘brut’ version of their sparkling wine…and it’s like 6-7 bucks/bottle.

But Korbel also makes a brut version and it’s less than $20.
