the wireless printer connects to the router
you run its setup first from its LCD panel.
you connect to the SSID of the signal and enter the right PASSkey value
the printer gets an IP like 192.168.1.30 or something very similar
the wireless laptop connects to the router
the printer install cd starts on the pc and installs a BONJOUR
or similar utility that runs at startup.
it finds the printer, installs the driver and you are done.
