Does a Micro SD Card Reader work in a camera?

I got a camera for christmas as my old one broke. It's just a little digital one (fugifilm finepix xp30). However my old camera used a micro SD card and my new one uses just normal SD. The new one hasn't come with a memory card. I'm wondering if it's possible to use a micro SD to SD adaptor cartridge in my camera as these are cheaper than a whole new card.

Thanks.

Update:

@Dave; I'm asking because I haven't actually got one. They're a lot cheaper than an actual SD card so i would rather buy an adaptor if possible.

Sure it will work without any problem. Why asking when you can find out putting it in the adaptor :D

There can be some small variances from brand to brand, so it's best to use a adapter of the same brand as your existing card - they will work 95% of the time.

Suggestion: SD card are very very cheap, why not get a new micro SD card that comes with an adapter, that way you get your adapter and a second SD card in effect!
