how do i know if my turtle is dead?

It hasn't been moving for a long time and it hasn't been eating the whole winter. It's just laying there on the "floor" of our aquarium. Is it hibernating or what, 'cause i don't know. BTW, it's a red-eared slider.

    Unfortanately, he's probably dead ):

Red eared sliders don't hybrinate. If he hasnt moved at all in that long, chances are, he's been gone for a while.

Have you not tried to pick it up?

Gently pull an arm to see for a response.

It IS possible for RES to hibernate, I'm not quite sure how, but you can research it.
