Would you quit your job if the economy was better?
I hate my job. I went to school for Human Resources and my wife went for accounting and we both are finding it difficult to find jobs in our chosen professions. I now work at a foundry and I absolutely hate my job. But because of us being responsible with school loans and a mortgage, we can't. Would you quit your job if the economy was better?
I am happy to be working, but I am not happy where I work. I understand that a degree does not mean I would be guaranteed a job. I would like to get back into construction, but that isn't a possibility now.

Sorry about the additional "additional details" but my computer froze.

It depends on the job conditions I'd be going to. There are other factors involved besides whether I like it or not, like medical and retirement benefits and job security. Also it depends on how long you've been at the job. Do you want to start over with seniority and vacation time? I know it's fashionable today to accept only a job you love, but only for very few does this come true. I'm always telling my kids to try to find something they like, but not to pass up a job that keeps them eating, if only temporarily.

No, I enjoy my job. Be thankful you have a job at all. A college degree is not a ticket to the job of your dreams.
If you still maintain contact with any of your foremans you can probably work your way back in the GC field, or if you've any friends/relatives still working too.
