why are Americans so incredibly ignorant about the US Constitution?
we continue to vote for people that violate this very important document. The Patriot Act? National Defense Authorization Act? are just a few of the unconstitutional laws passed by both the Democrats and Republicans. WAKE UP people. Our founding fathers would be very disappointed in us
@mark stop relying on other to teach you things... research them yourself if you have no idea what im talking about. stop being lazy.

It is no longer taught properly in government schools. (Federal government interference in education violates the Constitution, also.) So many of the "leaders" of the liberal s have told them what is in it that they have come to believe what they are told rather than taking the time to actually read the document. I can't find a "right" to health care, abortion, welfare programs or an education in the Constitution. What I can find is freedom of religion, the right to bear arms and the federal government's responsibility to protect our borders, among other things that have been ignored.
Sleep thin, where, in the Constitution of the United States, does the Supreme Court get the authority to decide if a law is Constitutional or not? Yes, the Constitution can be AMENDED, but only according to the procedure spelled out in Article V.

"The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court"-ergo the Supreme Court decides what is constitutional or not. I don't really see how this is an arguable point.
If Ron Paul is such a fine constitutionalist, then why is he promising to do things as President that Congress clearly has the responsibility for such as rescind foreign treaties? Given that Ron Paul doesn't even read what he writes himself apparently, how can I be sure he has ever read the Constitution?

Ron Paul for an icon totally invalidates anything you say. Paul does not even go by the Preamble.
Research him don't be lazy, look elsewhere, he is not the answer. If you want to find out look at something besides what he writes. You entire question is invalid. What is unconstitutional about these laws. You are wrong.
Thumb me down all you want, I am sure that as a Paulie you will insult or cuss me. Go ahead.

The constitution has a built in method for deciding which laws that have been passed are or are not unconstitutional. Since the process has gone through and played out on the patriot act we can say objectively that the patriot act is not unconstitutional.
Several different times in history, mostly because of wars, controversial measures have been taken to protect American Citizens. Lincoln suspended habeus corpus and locked up suspected confederate army soldiers without charges until the war was over while F D Roosevelt suspended due process and locked up Japanese Americans in internment camps until the end of the second world war.
While both of these measures are extreme and pale in comparison to both pieces of legislation you mentioned, both Presidents felt it was necessary and used their authority under the constitution to act in a manner they felt they had to.
I think that you need a little perspective. It's good that you have found a candidate that you agree with on issues but it is a little concerning to see some of this rhetoric thrown around by people who have no perspective otherwise. I don't mean to sound preachy, but America isn't coming to an end because of the patriot act or because of the DAA, your rhetoric is a bit over the top and is not helping your cause.

Ah, Mr. Condescending! You did a perfectly good job of wasting points! You can't see why you did? Because you talk down to people because of how ignorant you claim they are, and then you don't teach them anything! I'm going back to sleep now. After all, I know absolutely nothing more now than I did before I saw your "question."

cause the Constitution is flexible..the US Supreme Court rules if anything is legal or not
Like the so called *Obama Health Care*..it goes up to the Supreme Court in the end of March 2012
Most Americans know their rights..and are not *incredibly ignorant*
Most Americans will not support Ron Paul..and that is a fact
