Were the "good old days" really THAT good?

It's a little bit of both. Of course I don't think of the good stuff from now days when I'm wishing I was back then!

Cheap gasoline prices

No security at airports needed

Cheaper, friendlier and better airlines

Being younger and healthier

Having friends

Having adventures

Nice, funny comedies on television

Upbeat popular music that makes me want to jump around to it

Liking doing things normal my age people do instead of things that would be childish at my age

So many people and pets from my times not being old or dead yet

YES they were THAT good!

Less medical care available for pets

School days

Depression on Saturday afternoons that Sunday will be here soon then it's Monday and school

Homework not done

Frustrations and crying when trying to do the homework

Getting bullied

Belonging to the popular kids being an impossible dream

Kids fighting over who would be stuck with me on their teams at gym class

Wanting to go OUT but knowing I shouldn't because I have homework

No place to go, nothing to do to get out the energy and restlessness inside me

Fear over my drunken parents in the further back "good old days" when I didn't know they

were drunk, just scary looking and acting

Anger over my drunken parents in the later "good old days" when I knew they were drunk

All the good stuff on after bed time or when I'm stuck in school

NO the "Good old days" weren't really THAT good!

Looks like more no's than yeses but I can't shake the feeling I'd LOVE to go back! The nobody dead, old people not old, having friends, good music and nice comedies on tv that aren't all trashy, and the FUN I had in free time playing with my friends, makes the good old days so attractive!

Yes You can buy a lot with a dollar and Gas Prices was a lot lower back then

The Price of Coke was a lot lower

You Could Buy a New Car for $3,000 Dollars

You're Dollar was a lot more than today Dollar

Back in those days you can paid for grocery a lot less

the U S A and Cars Run a lot longer than today a car in the good old U S A Runs for

If you're talking about America? I think that some things were better, like jobs that paid a decent living and created a middle class that made people happy. Other things were worse. People openly expressed their racist feelings while going to church every Sunday. Unwed mothers were treated horribly, but the unwed dads had no problems at all. I wasn't alive in the "good old days" but I have a close relationship with my grandma. When it comes to "morality"? She believes we went from being too strict and unfair, to being too lax and quick to jump in bed. Sometimes, I agree with her. Then I meet a great guy, and have to struggle with those feelings like everyone else. lol
