Can usb wifi adapter work without router ?

I found an cheap usb wifi adapter , and i want to buy it , cause my wifi range is very weak . I don't have router , or anything to connect to wifi , i just have my laptop . I am new with these adapters , so please tell me what to do . Should i buy it or not ?

    You need a wireless router to connect your laptop to him or via an eternal cable.Usb wifi adaptor is used instead of cable but modern laptop don`t need them because they have already installed.If your wifi range is weak you need a better router .Enjoy

    Of course it won't work. You actually have to pay for your own Internet and buy your own router to have Wi-Fi access at home.
