Should I let my dad rest up or take us out?

I dont want to seem selfish but I havent seen my dad in about two months. He said he'd take me & my sister out for new years eve but texted a little while ago if we could postpone until tomorrow. I said no and he's coming tonight? Is that bad?

Since you've already convinced him, there's not much you can do but thank him and be supportive if he is looking worn out - to let him rest if he needs to - or even go home early if he needs to.

Since you don't see him that often make sure that he knows how special it is for you and your sister to see him, and try and make plans to see him again, possibly sooner.

It's easy for a parent who doesn't see their kids that often to start feeling like maybe you don't like them anymore...even though they're the one not reaching out. Sometimes you have to suck it up, though and let him reschedule...especially if he's not well.

Sounds like your parents are divorced. He needs to keep his promises to you.

It depends on why he wanted to take some extra time to himself. Did he just get home from a 12 hour shift? Or does he just not feel like going out?

Regardless of which reason... seems like you're all going out tonight. Make sure to thank him and appreciate his efforts. It's hard work being a parent, and the little "thank you's" make it all worthwhile.
