Is Islam an anti-male religion?

From what I understand, Islam has women wear the veil/hijab/etc. in order to "protect" them from the "male gaze". As if men are animalistic, uncontrollable balls of lust, devoid of empathy and women are too "pure" to be "tainted" by males. Am I wrong in assuming this is blatantly discriminatory and sexist towards males?

Update:

I could be wrong, this is a legitimate question. Not trying to troll anyone here.

Update 2:

To be fair, I haven't read the Quar'an front-to-back, just several passages.

Hardly. Islam exists to keep weak men in power. I suggest you read the Qur'an for verification.

All religions reflect the society and lifestyle in which they were developed. If the religion is developed in a patriarchal society with a life-style of oppression of particular peoples it truly is pondered contained in the files and traditions of the religion. faith is in simple terms yet another component of the lifestyle of a area. it is the cultural framework in which the inhabitants pertains to spirituality. Your fact "particularly Islam" is born of lack of understanding. Islam isn't any more suitable or a lot less anti-females than the different faith.

Know? this is more like protecting the man's feelings towards his wife and family... dressing modestly shows only ur personality to judge, so if the man viewing them is not married, he is then having the chance to pick the suitable woman by her personality more, and not being pulled in someway or another by different styles around him...

and if he's married, he's then having the chance to view his wife as the most beautiful woman in his eyes, not to compare her with the other styles he views everyday.

Men also are obliged to dress modestly, they are obliged to give an overall look of honor and piety, no tight or luxurious silk clothing and no transparent clothing too.

As most people know, most men are distracted by a women's looks when talking to her. The hair of a woman is (most times) a beautiful feature of the woman (this is generally not the case for hair on the man). The woman is advised to cover her hair to protect her and reduce the risk(s) of rape etc...

On the other hand: if a good looking man walks down the street, he is a-lot less likely to be raped by a woman (and if the scenario occurs), the man is more likely to be able to defend himself from a woman than the woman is able to defend herself from a man.

Modesty is valued in Islam, and both men and women have certain guidelines in this regard. For example, ideally, men should not wear gold or pure silk, as these are seen as a sign of luxury. Women, however, are allowed to wear both pure silk and gold. Perfume is not forbidden, and in fact, its use is encouraged at certain times, such as when attending Friday prayers. It is said to give one a sense of Paradise. Both men and women have certain areas (called the 'awra) that Islam requires them to keep covered out of modesty. Neither gender should wear seductive clothing, but there is no limit to the various styles that a Muslim man or woman can wear. At the Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca, men wear a seamless white cotton garment. Women however are allowed to wear their regular regional styles. Together, therefore, the women and men at Hajj show both the unity and the diversity of the umma, or Muslim community.

dear sister in quran god tells the men to put hijab first

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.”

    [Al Qur’an 24:30]

so am being male i hardly looks at women because this my hijab and after this verse god speaks about hijab for women

“ And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons...”

    [Al Qur’an 24:31]

The reason why hijaab is prescribed for women is mentioned in the Qur’an in the following verse of Surah Al Ahzaab:

“O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

    [Al Qur’an 33:59]

and there are rules to protect women from molestation

Under the Islamic Shari’ah, a man convicted of having raped a woman, is given capital punishment.

and this was the condition of the world before quran was revealed

    1. Babylonian Civilization:

The women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death.

    2. Greek Civilization:

Greek Civilization is considered the most glorious of all ancient civilizations. Under this very ‘glorious’ system, women were deprived of all rights and were looked down upon. In Greek mythology, an ‘imaginary woman’ called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. The Greeks considered women to be subhuman and inferior to men. Though chastity of women was precious, and women were held in high esteem, the Greeks were later overwhelmed by ego and sexual perversions. Prostitution became a regular practice amongst all classes of Greek society.

    3. Roman Civilization:

When Roman Civilization was at the zenith of its ‘glory’, a man even had the right to take the life of his wife. Prostitution and nudity were common amongst the Romans.

    4. Egyptian Civilization:

The Egyptian considered women evil and as a sign of a devil.

    5. Pre-Islamic Arabia:

Before Islam spread in Arabia, the Arabs looked down upon women and very often when a female child was born, she was buried alive.

    2. Islam uplifted women and gave them equality and expects them to maintain their status

Islam uplifted the status of women and granted them their just rights 1400 years ago. Islam expects women to maintain their status.

No, Islam is anti- female. Not only in the burka etc, but the testimony of a woman is only worth half that of a man. If a man want's to make a will, and the only persons he can find to witness it are women there have to be two of them, while one man would do.

I believe it is also sexist towards women. Another reason that women may need to be covered up is so that they can be in possession completely of only one man.

You wear the burka on a 40 C day in the desert and see if you still like it.

All muslim men should be forced to wear the burka.

It is considered shameful if they do not wear it. They must have their body covered always. It is not anti-male if anything it is anti-female.

*Imagine wearing one of those things all the time in summer O,O
