This is the question that has been perplexing students ever since school became a mandatory thing. The answer: I have no freakin' clue ;)

I'm in algebra 2 and I'm constantly like why do I need to know this!! I mean I guess certain careers deal with it, like an engineer or architect, but I want to be neither. And a biologist of horticulturist might need to know the formula for photosynthesis but I get what you mean.

Oh and I totally understand the asking adults for help thing!

I'm my own when it comes to homework help. My parents take one look at my algebra and are like "doi, ughh, go ask your cousins." So I go ask some of my cousins who aren't too older and they say, I remember learning it, but I forgot how to do it. -__- Story of my life!

BQ: Under water basket weaving. Everyone always jokes about this, but how cool would it be for someone to make a joke about it and you could be like, "I actually do know how to under water basket weave!"

Because they don't care if you learn it, they want your grades so they can see how much you understand in the moment, because that is all universities care about. That is all that will benefit the economy.

The basic math, sciences, and such that you need to take do not just give you a taste of what you want to do later on, they give you much more than a taste. They give you plates and plates of things that you don't care about and will never use.

I think the schooling system is absurd, really, I mean we spend a 4th of our lives in basic education. I think we should start university way earlier, and from there choose what we want to do, so we have so much more time to really contribute and learn things that will actually help us.

BQ: hah a basic living course would be nice.

I used to wonder this but my dad told me something that gave it a better light: when he was in high school, he had no clue what he wanted to do (like the majority of people I knew freshman year of HS), and had just planned on going into the military and seeing what's needed. His senior year, he took a computer class and fell in love with it. He knew that it was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life and he ended up doing so, first in the military then retiring and working with computers as a civilian. The majority of people don't know what they're going to do until they take that health or biology class that made them realize their passion for the health industry, or the chemistry class for the pharmacist or history class or english for the author, etc. So let's say some guy wants to be an author, and is absolutely bored at his physics class because he's never going to use it. But, he still pays attention because he knows it's required and calcuted into his GPA, and he wants to look good to that great-for-english-majors college he wants to go to so bad. Fast forward to his sophomore year of college, and he's tired of the english crap he's been learning for the past year and a half, and knows he can't stand to write one more sentence, nonetheless two hundred a day for the rest of his life. For one of his basic classes for his college (they have bs required credits too), he had to take science, and he decided to take basic physics because he was alright at it in high school. He takes it this semester and loves it, because a lot of times, college courses can be much different than the ones in high school. He is an absolute whiz in his class because of that basic high school knowledge and decides to change his major.

Tl;dr: It helps people decide what they like, prepares them for the basic classes in college everyone is required to take, and provides a small safety net for those five or six assholes who like to change their **** up once in a while.

Where ull leanr what u need to succeed in ur dream career!

Its because the amarican school system doesn't care about relivant academics. All they care about is sports.

BQ = think class. A class on how to think for your self. Too many of our age group go with the heard .

    HI :)

I think there's ALL these subjects because one of us would actually use them! Let's say PSHE, maybe someone who would like to become a to psychology or teacher of that subject(lol) would take this or something. Or geography, most of us won't become a geologic but some will, so its kinda of important. And history....BORING, for most of us, but again for some useful! But that's why at the beginning you get to learn ALL the subjects, then you choose like 8 or something depending on your school and stuff. And ok, maybe some stuff YOU will never use, but some will, so it's important for EVERYONE to learn this perticular subject, and then see if you need it in your future. And I know what you mean for maths, like there's some stuff that you DON'T need to learn, but if you do physics you'll see that there's stuff you would NEVER think about, that you learn in maths and you see that it is useful here! So please shut up and learn, because you don't imagine how much children would die to be where you are! ;)

I really have no idea why we need Biology, because I do not want to be a science teacher, I want to be an actress on my favorite TV show. That does not need any Biology in it.
