They are both going to continue.
The simplified version was made specifically for those learning English as a second language who needed it more simple so they can understand it, as well as for children.

There are two monthly editions. A study version and a public version. The public version is written for the public in general who may not have a lot of Bible knowledge so the articles are more explanatory for their benefit. The study versions are for Jehovah's Witnesses who already have knowledge that doesn't necessitate column space for explanation.
A simplified version would be for people who may not have a large command of the English language so more simpler words or terms are used.

The english Simp edition has been made to help our foreign Brothers to understand the english language of the study, they both run side by side and ANY Brother or Sister can order one, Just ask the literature servant.

I find it hard to conceptualise a simplified version of the Watchtower magazine!
Seriously, why are they still printing it? I've got copies from the early 70's that predicted armageddon and the new system by now! The Awake even used to have a letterhead image showing the 'generation of 1914' passing into the new system!
