Teeth whitening procedure?

What kind of procedure does the dentist do when whitening patients teeth? Im thinking about getting mine whitened. Theyre not the whitest set of teeth...

Update:

** I just want to know about the dental procedure that the dentist performs in one or two sittings. Not really interested in at home things. Thanks for the extra info thoughh. :)

There are several ways to whiten teeth. The least expensive is with crest white strips or something similar sold over the counter. These often work well and may be all you need. Another way is for the dentist to make you trays that fit over your teeth and that you use to place a gel in for an hour or two a day for several weeks. A third way is with an in office bleach that takes about an hour and a half total. This is the quickest way but also the most expensive. Keep in mind that the tray method works just as well, it just takes longer. Hope this helps.

I whitened my teeth with a home kit called "White Radiance" for 50 dollars. I ordered it online and it shipped in 5 business days. It's dental grade carbamide peroxide and within 3 days my teeth were super bright and back to their natural ivory color. I also tried crest white strips years before and those took too long and I personally did not like the results. Best wishes!

Professional teeth whitening is the safest and the fastest way to make teeth white. In this procedure, bleaching gel is used which has peroxide. After teeth isolation, bleaching gel is applied on teeth which have hydrogen peroxide and is kept there for 15-20 minutes. Professional teeth whitening will cost around $650.
