Re: Google Chrome (a couple of questions)?

I use Google Chrome...my "about" says it is up to date (v 16.0.912.63 m) for Windows Vista.

I use the tabbed browsing feature and have never been able to set subsequent tabs to open at my designated homepage. Is there a way to do it? It is just an extra click but it seems a reasonable thing to expect your computer to do and I can't select a home page for them. I am pretty handy, and if it is possible, it is a simple thing...if you can just begin at the wrench and show me where the setting for this is, I would appreciate it.

ALSO in the past with other browsers, I have installed the Google toolbar and LOVE LOVE LOVE the highlighter tool. Now with Google Chrome, obv the Google people assume you don't need the Google toolbar because you have the whole dang browser...but the browser doesn't have a highlighter feature on it, that I have found. Is there one OR is there a way to add a highlighter to it? Just to be clear, using the highlighter, you type in a word in the search box and it highlights wherever that word appears on your current webpage. Makes it a lot easier to scan for keywords when I am looking for information.

Thanks for your help!

Update:

CONTROL F Genius! I am so happy I asked. In the G Toolbar, it was called highlighter, and the button was had a little highlighter icon...looked like a neon magic marker. But I am not quibbling. Thanks for the info both so far!

Pinning the tabs...I guess I don't understand how would this help me?

Yes, Ctrl+F is search. This is pretty much universal on most programs/broswers (you can do it in firefox, or MS word for example) So pretty much hit ctrl+f, type what you wanna search and then hit enter and it'll jump you to the first result. Then you can hit enter again (if you don't click the page) and it'll take you to the next one.

As for home page, i dunno if pinning tabs works, but i know how to set a home page. (or just set bookmarks and open what you want from the newtab page.

    ANYWAY

    Click the Wrench

    Go to options

It should automatically be on "basics"

YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES: First, have it open one page and have that as your home page. OR have it open multiple pages whenever you start your browser.

so first: click the radio button that says: "open the home page"

Then look down to the next section, click the button "open this page:" and put the URL of your home page there.

(If you want the home button to appear, in the next section, it gives an option for that)

OR THE OTHER CHOICE: Click the radio button that says "Open the following pages:"

Go to the site that you want to be your home page (or one of your home pages) and copy the URL. Paste this URL in the box.

If you want more than one, click add another page and then repeat

(I do not belive the home button will work with multiple pages - but you are more than welcome to try)

I do use Google Chrome but not all the time. I find it difficult to use. I wish there was a bookmarks or favorites to set those in but I have not found anything to save pages yet.

I get tired of opening new tabs and closing old ones every time I want to open another page...

For the highlighter type the CTRL and F keys together on your keyboard. Sorry I can not remember from memory how to set a homepage in Chrome.

It sounds like your Internet connection is congested. Are you sure someone else in your house isn't using it to download torrents or stream video or something? Are you sure you haven't hit some sort of download limit? There's no logical way using a proxy can make your connection faster. It's like saying going to from New York to LA is faster if you go to London first.

First question, pin the tabs. They will open on startup, second, it's called find, not highlighter control f to find
