Going to Ho Chi Minh city alone, is it safe?

If your streetwise to be comfortable in a big city back home, wherever that is, then you should have no problems in HCMC.

Normal common sense rules apply: Don't carry a lot of expensive stuff around, don't drink too much, don't go off with new 'friends', don't go off down shady alleys in seedy parts of town, don't play with the electrics with wet hands, ...

In addition, take care about how you travel, there are scam taxis who will rip you off for 10 (or more) * the rate. Easiest way into the city from the airport is to pre pay a taxi at the booth inside the airport. Biggest danger is the roads, same as back home, only worse.
