I have been told so many things about visas to Vietnam. You cannot get any info from any Vietnam Embassy website. Who knows about landing visas via plane land or water???

1.Firstly can anyone recommend and good Halong Bay tour? I’ve been told there are some dodgy ones out there! Is it better to pre book before you go, or is it easy to book once over there?

2.Secondly, what is the best way to obtain a Vietnam Visa?

What tours are around offering to go to Halong Bay and Cat Ba for two days and one night? If so, how much do they usually cost?

Can anyone speak on the fastest way to travel between Siem Reap and Nha Trang ( http://www.nhatrangbeachshow.com/ ) ? Is there a direct bus of sorts or would we have to go through Phenom Penh>Saigon>Nha Trang? Approximately how long would the trip take?

We only have a 9 day itinerary, so we are trying to minimize the amount of unnecessary travel time. Our budget isn't too tight, so any option is open.

So far our itinerary looks like this, if anyone has any suggestions or better ideas please let me know:

Day 1: Bangkok

Day 2: Ko Samet

Day 3: Ko Samet

Day 4: Siem Reap

Day 5: Siem Reap

Day 6: Nha Trang

Day 7: Nha Trang

Day 8: Nha Trang

Day 9: Saigon

I 'm quite paranoid about this because I have once made an accommodation booking years ago to Hosteling International in Mexico City, but when I arrived at the hostel, they say they were not aware of the arrangement and my name was not in the guest listing. I was ripped-off by just about $2 only.

Anybody tried this before or is it legit? Here, they were asking for my credit card number and the payment for the whole fare.

apologies if a similar post has been posted a billion times but just got a few questions regarding ha long bay.

1. is it easy enough to organise a ha long bay tour in hanoi on the day ( i.e. book in the morning and get to halong bay on the same day)

2. Whats the standard tour.. 3d/2n or 2d/1n? whats the going rate for something standard ( not flash 5 star) but something clean and basic like 3 star.

3. how long does it take to travel from halong bay to Hanoi.

4. what time do tours normally leave from Hanoi and what time do they return. I am trying to schedule a ticket to fly out and the flight times depart around 6pm and what to know if i will be back in time for the flight.

I heard that Sapa can be pretty chilling. Do i need additional warm clothing if i'm travelling to Sapa in early may?

For the trekking trips, is it recommended to walk with a trekking boots or any other shoe or even slippers are fine?
