Is it ok to give my dog Ruffles?
My dog seems to really like eating Ruffles but I'm not sure theyre good for him. Can I keep giving them to him?
When I give him Ruffles I don't notice anything out of the ordinary, and he doesn't seem sick. He's a 7 year old Shiba Inu,if that has anything to do with it...

You probably won't make your dog sick but no they are not GOOD for the dog. Ruffles are made from white potatoes & have a high glycemic index (it means they will dramatically raise the blood sugar level & stress the pancreas). Dogs really aren't designed to eat high amounts of sugar (which is what carbohydrates digest into). The Ruffles are also FULL of FAT & SALT! Neither are good for dogs especially small ones who aren't supposed to eat nearly as many calories as large dogs. In addition, you do RISK your dog developing PANCREATITIS (an inflammation of the pancreas) from feeding it a high fat food. Try getting your dog to eat a safer, low-calorie snack like bits of carrot.

No rude remarks? Okay - instead of my usual spiel of responsibility and how it is inconceivable to bring more genetically sick dogs into this world when they're being killed by the thousands in our shelters and if you don't know what the hell you're doing then you don't breed your dog and at the very least you could have spent these last 9 weeks or so RESEARCHING and getting prepared and contacting veterinarians and reputable breeders for tips and pointers so that if something goes wrong you won't end up on Y! Answers asking random strangers questions that you should already know the answer to - then my advice to you is to speak with a veterinarian. Especially, as you say, your b*tch has been panting for 2 days and leaking vaginal secretions but no puppies have emerged. Or were you simply waiting for her to die?

Hi, I am a Pet Nutrition Specialist. I wouldn't recommend that you give your dog Ruffles. You might not notice any problems with your dog now, but over time he could develop issues. Ruffles have too much sodium in them for your dog, as well as fats and oils that could be hard for your dog to digest. And issues with his pancreas could arise. Now that your dog is entering his senior years, good nutrition is a must.

The fat and oils in the ruffles will eventually cause Pancreatitis

I share funyuns with my dogs and they love it, but I just eat a snack sized bag and give them each a couple.
