A friend offered me a house cleaning job with "no strings attached". What does this mean?

It sounds as if he wants you to be the upstairs maid...cleaning and sex, but no marriage commitment. No strings means that it would last just or only as long as both of you wished. There would be no obligations after it was over (no strings), but it could last a long, long time or a month.

Judge whether he is joking by how much he offers to pay (a little extra for extra duties).

By the way, I have a dirty house and a dirty mind too...but alas no money.

Now he may indeed be interested, but wants a no strings trial relationship. Maybe he just doesn't want to go thru the whole courting thing and even marriage just to end up in divorce court. If you are reasonably serious on the facts he is suggesting a little slap and tickle even as a joke you have to take that into consideration.

He means that you don't have to do any sexual favors in order to get the job or keep it.

He likes you. He is saying this to let you know he likes you, but this will be a paying job. He is letting you know he will treat you more like a employee than a friend or lover.
