Usually not unless there is serious complications or if it happens on a long weekend and she is not far away and that is while you are in Tech, if you are in BMT forget it. When in labor she needs to notify the Red Cross to have a message sent to your command about it.
It sounds bad but she will not be the first wife to give birth while you are gone. The worst one that I know of is a guy that had to drop his wife off at the hospital because she was in labor, while on the way to his command to deploy. He didn't find out what she had right away either, he had to wait to get the message.

1. in basic - you cannot leave
2. At Tech School - you may be able to get two days off
But thats a big maybe - it just depends on where you are in tech school, what type of tech school, how well you are doing in tech school, what your instructors say, etc.
There are just to many variables to answer right now.
IE: say there is a tech school class's just one week behind yours - then they may allow you to take a week of leave and just rejoin that class a week behind yours
But most tech schools do not have class's that close to each other, the class behnd yours, maybe a month behind, well in that case, they are not gonna drop you back a month, to allow leave.
But they may give you a friday or monday off, and let you fly home for a 3 day weekend
NOTE: you must pay all travel cost, the AF doesn't pay for leave travel.
3. You need to find out the due date, and when you get to tech school, bring it up with your instructors at school
Not the MTL's in the dorm, but your actual instructors in school.
If the instructors will work with you, then you go to your 1st sgt in the dorms to ask for leave.

Bottom line..you cannot leave training except in the instance of the death or imminent death (within 24 hours) of an immediate family member. You will not be able to leave training to attend the birth. She will need to contact the Red Cross when the child is born and they will relay the message to you.
She won't be the first military spouse to give birth alone. Many, many, many of us do and survive to tell the tale.

no they will not. you are not authorized to take leave while in AIT. only if she or the baby were in imminent danger of dying would you be allowed to go home.
plan on missing the birth. best you can hope for is a phone call after wards.
she has to submit a Red Cross message. it WILL NOT be delivered until AFTER live birth.

During labor, your family can call the American Red Cross and tell them to relay to your commander that your wife is having a baby.
They may or may not authorize emergency leave. If you weren't a student, I would assume you're more likely to get leave authorized. However, as a student, it would push you back to leave in the middle of your studies and that may not want to do that.
It is up to your CO.

You should.
I would think that birth of your son (or daughter) would allow you to go home, but not for long at all.
If it is to happen while your in basic she would have to contact the red cross and provide information.
If it's while your in tech school I'm assuming she'd call the base and inform them.
Though depending on where your tech school is, you may not make it in time. That's the only problem I see.
If you're willing, you could talk to your recruiter about getting a later ship date and leave after the baby is born.

When I was in boot, my Recruit Chief Petty Officer's wife had a baby, he was only allowed to call her and see how it went.

Dude, you would probably be sit back in class if you miss any portion of it. Watch the birth on you ipod and be done with it.....................

You miss training, you will be recycled. Have her travel to you.
