A question on projectiles?
I just learned projectile motion at school but I still can't quite grasp the entire concept yet.
Why is it that a projectile remains in motion with a constant horizontal velocity when the horizontal component of its velocity is ever changing with the decrease in angle?

a projectile moves on a slope basis, it's motion is relative to the slope of horizontal and vertical directions as given by a particle at a position...... angle decreases due to lets say friction i'll call it air friction , you throw a ball like a projectile towards a fan it will not move further that is friction baby, and it decreases angle of motion....thats how i learned it :)

Let's clear this up. In projectile motion, horizontal velocity is constant. It is vertical velocity that changes due to gravity. The two components (vertical and horizontal) are independent of each other.
First law of motion states that objects in motion stay in motion unless an unbalanced force acts on it. In an ideal environment, one where there is no air resistance, a thrown object will retain its horizontal velocity until it reaches the ground. Vertical velocity changes because there is a vertical unbalanced force acting on it, which is gravity.
Angle has nothing to do with change in velocity. It only measures the relationship between the vertical and horizontal components.

The horizontal velocity changes only if there is a horizontal force. If there is no force (no air resistance), the horizontal component of velocity remains constant during the flight.
If you know how to resolve a vector, then the initial horizontal component is Vcos(A), where A is the angle to the horizontal. So if you project at different angles, the horizontal component varies. But once in motion, the horizontal component stays constant.
