It's longer than that if you do all the side quests. Also there are two different final levels depending on which path you take so is well worth playing twice. Both endings are fantastic by the way.
Designing your own levels is good fun and playing/rating other people's is fun too.

Depends on how proficient you are with the game. I didn't play mine too often, and did most side-quest that I came across, but I still managed to beat it in a somewhat small period of time. Around 12 hours for the main quest sounds about right. If you have an internet connection you can also create missions, and play other peoples created mission as well. I haven't had an interest though.
