Sorry to be blunt, but you need to get your expectations down to Earth. Building muscle naturally in a way that is safe and healthy is NOT a fast process. If you do everything right - exercise and nutrition - then a fantastic gain would be around a pound a month on average. This may not sound like much, but it comes to 12 pounds a year, 24 in two, and a whopping 36 pounds over three years. It is possible to build muscle faster than this in short spurts, especially when you first start working out, but in the long run, your average gains will be what I stated. People who don't understand this get frustrated and quit, or else they turn to steroids in desperation.

As ways to build muscle, you need to correctly eat, exercise, and rest. Many people are great at exercise, but fail in their nutrition. Start by determining your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) and increase this by a tiny amount to allow for growth. You'll need to carefully balance the amount of protein, carbs, and fat that you eat. You'll also need to consume high quality proteins. The overall topic is complex, and people who are successful tend to spend as much time learning about nutrition and physiology as they do in the gym. Theories always seem to be changing, and you'll find yourself always trying to catch up on the latest stuff. Also, as your body grows stronger, you will need to modify your nutrition and exercise programs to compensate.

    Good luck.

Lift slow and heavy, 4-8 reps and 3-4 sets. Get a gram of protein for every lb of body mass you have. Eat 6x a day, make sure protein is in every meal. Eat 500 above what you need to maintain. If you have a problem getting that much buy some whey protein and use it post workout or whenever you can't get a meal in, if you need more calories mix it with milk or ice cream.

Start with compound movements, they work more areas and get you stronger faster, bench press, squats, pull ups and the best for arms are tricep dips, your tricep is 2/3 of your upper arm so don't be a curl monkey!

Don't work the same muscle 2 days in a row, I do a 3 day split. Day 1- chest and triceps, day 2- Back and Biceps, Day 3 lower body and abs.

Source(s): you follow what I said and you will get some huge gains in about a month, I've been lifting for a few months and I'm 4x as buff as kids I know who have been working out for years, if you do it correctly you will get big

You will need to start having more calories, and start weightlifting and calisthenics. Its important not to get carried away with the calories, and to eat proper foods like meat, not sweets. For weights, its better to do short heavy reps than lots of light reps. I reccomend at least one workout a day.
