My 1994 Ford XLT has started being hard to start when it rains. Once it's started it runs great.?

I've bought a new battery and feel that I wasted money. It's still hard to start the morning after it rains. If it's raining when I'm driving I have no problem. I don't experience any problem after I've got it started.

Update:

I want to mention that after the engine has started I don't have any further problem with starting and driving for the remainder of the day. Both answers so far look good to me who unfortunately don't have any sense beyond changing a tire on a car.

just when it rains ? it could be moisture getting into the distributor cap from the rain.it could be the cap is not fitting tight enough and allowing moisture to get inside.after you get it started then it dries out.

4 things. FIRST, remove and replace your distributor cap and ROTOR. I prefer a BORG WARNER SELECT type because it has BRASS terminals instead of aluminum. REMOVE and CLEAN your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE. THis fine tunes yoiur fuel/air mixture and will get you more power and economy! Third, use Mobil One 0W-30 engine oil to reduce friction and protect your engine bearings at start-up in the WORST cold. and LASTLY, install a set of BOSCH Fusion spark plugs. DO this step ONLY when you are CERTAIN that your throttle body and IAC valve are as CLEAN as showroom. VOILA!! a msterpiece!!! iNSTANT STARTS IN all WEATHER, BETTER POWERR AND BEST ECONOMY all at once!! thE whole THING SHOULD COST YOU UNDER $150 DOLLARS! thE t BODY AND iac VALVE CAN BE CLEANED BY NERALY any QUICKY LUBE TECHNICIAN FOR $20 OR SO. thE REST IS oil change AND plugs FOR $3 A PIECE. good luck!!
