By the time we got t.v. and Howdy doody came to t.v I was too old for the show and I have never liked clowns so would never watch it.

Long before we got a TV in the little town where I lived as a kid, we went to a bigger city to visit some cousins. I asked if I could watch their TV because I'd never seen TV. Howdy Doody was on. It didn't matter to me that it was a show for younger kids. I sat down on the floor and watched the whole thing. My cousins called me a baby for doing that.

Yes, I think it followed Coukla, Fran and Ollie. I remember, Princess summer, fall, winter, spring, the flubadub, Mr. Bluster, Buffalo Bob and Clarabelle. I also watched the Pinky Lee show.

I was too old to appreciate the show when we got TV. But for nothing
else to watch that time of day, I would occasionally watch with my twin
sisters, who sat in matching red chairs, glued to the tube. I got familiar
with the marionette characters, as well as Clarabell. Who never uttered
a sound, and honked a horn to show his appreciation of things. Later I
learned it was Bob Keeshan, behind the clown costume, long after he
had his own show, "Captain Kangaroo" with Mr Green Jeans. That was
another favorite show of my sisters. I stayed tuned for the Mickey Mouse
Club (the original), and later, when we got it, American Bandstand, that
was geared to teenagers. Early childrens' programs were so simple, but
they were genuine, kid pleasers. There was nothing to figure out, so we
would just sit and be entertained.

I don't know if I remember it so much as remember hearing about it when I was little. I THINK I remember watching it. Wasn't Willard Scott the original Clarabelle? Or was he Bozo? I get them mixed up, LOL. I do rememer very distinctly watching Romper Room, and always being disappointed when Miss Fran (or whatever her name was) never said my name when looking into the magic mirror. That's what you get when your name is unusual.

With Buffalo Bob and Clarabelle? (That spelling is probably terribly wrong.)
Nope, never heard of it.
