Restoring an old '92 Nissan 240SX and had a few questions?

Alright so I found me a project that's been sitting in a garage for about 4 years. I understand that I'm gonna have to change out all the fluids and all that bullshit, but I can't do that until I get it home. So I was wondering if I can attempt to drive it home just by pumping up the tires and slapping a new battery in it. Because it's a forty mile drive, and you know, just like everyone else, I'm too broke and cheap to pay a wrecker for a tow. Do you think I'll be able to make it home without any issues? Thanks in advance. Oh, and yes, it was running before it was parked.

Update:

I was going to make an attempt at doing that, but I was mainly concerned about the oil pump burning up or the top end of the motor seizing due to lack of lubrication. Is that something to worry about?

are you sure you can't change the oil first? at least put on a new oil filter on before the drive. if it hasn't be turned over in four years i would probably take the plugs out and squirt some oil in there, then crank the engine with the plugs out, until you get some oil pressure. i would be concerned about water in the fuel tank. maybe put some Heet or other water remover in there as a preventative measure. good luck.

Sorry Dude I would not rush driving a car that was parked 4 years. Bad Gasoline rusted gas tank could clog the injectors. Also there was a reason that car was parked Bad Clutch / auto transmission that won't move? Brake system with leaks. It is just not safe till you know everything works as it should. You will do what you will do anyway. I just remember driving a 1960's Austin Healey home after the third or forth depress of the brakes a line blew out (no brakes!) down shifting running a stop sign grabbing the parking brake the cables broke turning off the key slowed to a stop with out hitting anything. A flat bed tow truck is in order they can help you get all the parts to your garage in one piece. Getting stopped by the police. Tickets for no license plates and insurance could cost more than a tow truck too Good Luck

well, the last old 2nd old car, i bought was a 1986 Maxima i bought it for $600 dollars and had it towed 30 miles for $65.00 dollars. once, i got it home, me and my dad put a new battery in it and then he told me to just kick it over and then turn off the ignition key without starting it, when, i did it, it seemed like it wanted to start, so i defy my father, old man and **** it started right up, i even drove it around the block. amazing nissans. i would be worry about the gas although. take off the gas cap and sniff it. if its kerosene, you'll have to take off the gas tank, prob replace the fuel filter, the fuel pump might be ok, listen for a hum, turn on the key but not to start. check the brakes, it might be you'd just have to bleed them. check the oil, if its low, add to it, i don't think your oil pump would go bad like that. check all your running lights, make sure your brake lights work, i've chanced quite a few million cars in the past running without plates, they say if you do get stopped just tell the officer you just bought it and your going home. the only other thing would be car insurance, nice to have and make sure you have the bill of sale and the title and your drivers license.

it should, unless something like a water pump is badly damaged. you should probly do a diagnosis on it before you drive it anywhere
