★URGENT!:Is it safe to eat icicles?

Just wondering, because it's been snowing like crazy for the past couple days here and last night we had a snow storm, so a lot of NEW icicles have formed on the eves of the house. I'm babysitting today and am making this four-berry smoothie for the kiddies. but i need some ice for it and can't find the ice tray. Soooo I'm seriously debating on weather i should just grab some of the thick icicles that are hanging off the eaves of my house from the back porch area. They appear to be pretty CLEAN to me, though i am aware they probably have a little debris from the house. But what harm could a little dirt do? I plan on rinsing each out with water first. Wouldn't want those children to get sick!........ i used to eat them all the time as a kid and never once got sick that i can remember at least...

is it safe to say eating icicles that look clean are harmless? O_o

I have to concur with Amanda, even though I myself would not consume them unless I was somewhere in like the rocky mountains.

No, it is not safe to eat icicles. Icicles are a gateway to harder frozen treats. It's ice ice baby, come on. If you got a problem, yea I'll solve um, check out the hook while the DJ revolves it. Next thing you know your moving up the frozen treat ladder. This leads to eating snow banks and on to icebergs, and polar caps.

Sure, if you live in a clean place, then i don't see the harm. However, if you took them from a sewage pipe or factory roof or a place you'd never been before then no.
