Is tap water bad for dogs?

My Lab puppy drinks tap water, tank water. Your dogs will be fine, dogs in the wild will drink from a muddy puddle if they have to!

No. Water is water to dogs. Even I drink tap water on occasions. There is nothing dangerous or bad about it.

My pup always drinks from the rain puddles, even with bowls full of tap water, that I've used since I've had her (apart from on trips where she has bottled water) :)

Tap water is just fine . The water that is not so good for dogs is river and water from lakes . They can get what is called Giardia its an intestinal parasite that causes loose and bloody stool's .

If the water is safe for people its safe for dogs but in my opinion its best to not give them tap water. It has fluoride and can have other contaminants.

Heck, dogs drink puddles, lakes, rivers, oceans, creaks, springs, toilet water and essentially, anywhere where water pools, and never have a problem.

Personally, I'd avoid letting them drink any water outside that has oil(its shiny), algae(Sign of fertilizers and man made yard chemicals in it, been made to deform fish, frogs and toads) or stale water that you see tadpoles or mosquito larva swimming in it.
