I have feelings for a popular boy in my class...?

Question

Right, hello there! Thanks for clicking on this and reading about my majestic encounters with a boy I hardly know..... Just kidding, but thanks for reading this. 

So, I'm 14 years old and a very weird and hyper person. That's right, I admit it. I'm not a scene kid or any of those people who are like "Omg I iz deffrent!!!11 lawl dinos and cupcakes!!!!111!!!one!!!!" I just happen to be downright weird. I'm always running around going "VICTORY SCREECH!! LULULULULULU!!!" from SpongeBob or something stupid like that. However, there is a boy in my english class that I have developed a big crush on. He is one of the popular kids, but he isn't rude at all. He's very kind, nice, and polite. He even says please and thank you and holds the door open for others. He sits diagonally from me, and we have talked to eachother a few times. However, those few sentences were only about schoolwork/homeowrk and all that shnazz. He's a good kid, but he's really close with his popular friends. It would be awkward to try to talk to his friends to get to know him, because I don't usually associate myself with people who are out of my 'social group'. I wouldn't really call him popular since popularity doesn't exist, but I would definitely say that he is from a different social group than myself. He is usually talking to his guy friends about sports or something Internet related, so it is difficult to talk to him because he is always surrounded by friends. I'm not even sure if he has a girlfriend at the moment, but that is besides the point. I am asking all of you Y! Answerers for advice on how to get closer to him. I would like to become his friend, or at least someone he talks to. Thank you for the advice!

Also, english class is the only class I have with him. That made me very upset, but it is what it is.

Would it be bad to answer your question the same way you answered mine? Since you have him in class with you, you can always use the "I forgot what the homework was" method, and call/text him asking about it, and then continue having a conversation from there. :) That way, you can get to know him better without coming off as pushy.

Well, he seems to be a nice guy, since he talks to you even though you are different. Just keep on doing what you are doing, but nothing more for now. Don't try to fit in with his social group. 

If he's smart, ask him for help with schoolwork. I've actually made friends with someone just because they were impressed with my intelligence and they needed help from me. It may possibly work, so give it a try. Talk more, but don't ask strangely personal questions. Just be yourself!
