How exactly does a love triangle work if it's with 2 males and a female or 2 females and a male?

I just want to point out that if it is 2 girls and 1 guy, then there is two triangles in there, and you can think of that as a St Davids star.

Girl 1 gets to pick first and guy 2 has to turn into guy three and wait it out.
