Is a landlord required to provide a reference?

I live if Florida so I'm not sure if the laws are the same elsewhere. I have been a perfect tenant, always pay rent on time, quiet, clean, no problems. Over the last couple months I've been making complaints about a noisy tenant but my complaints were never addressed. I was told that "people are allowed to enjoy their homes" I ended up calling the headquarters only to get the same response. I have told them I am moving out because they will not take care of the noise problem. Now the manager is being very rude to me. Since I am moving out I will need a reference but I'm worried that they may say something bad or not provide a reference. Any suggestions?

    They are not required to provide a reference. They probably won't say anything bad because we live in a very litigious society.

    No, there is no requirement for a landlord to provide a reference.

    What you are talking about is "quiet enjoyment" (the legal term). It depends on the times they are noisy and how noisy they are.

    Not a lot you can do. But I would put the name of the corporate headquarters, not the individual. Most big companies will only answer questions about if you paid your rent on time because they don't want to be sued for bad mouthing people.

    NOPE Having a noisy tenant does not supply you a loose "out" out of your hire you're certain by potential of hire words and can grant suitable be conscious i does not assume a solid reference from this one, and not getting one ought to be the terrific undertaking

    A landlord is merely required to not lie about you. He isn't required to do much of anything beyond admit you lived there.
