Believe it or not, you can put your keyboard in the dishwasher. First, make sure it is easy to take apart. This is for later. If it seems simple to disassemble, place it in the dishwasher and make sure the cord is tightly wound up so it won't get caught in the dishwasher's spinning arms. Then make SURE you take it out BEFORE the dry cycle or it may melt! Then next step is to take it out and open it up to let it dry. You can help it out with a hair dryer. Once it's COMPLETELY dry, you can hook it back up to your computer all nice and clean!
Obviously, you may not want to do this with more sensitive keyboards such as gaming keyboards with LCD screens. This is meant for common usb/ps2 type keyboards with nothing special on them.
**UPDATE**
Ross obviously isn't a TRUE computer geek if he doesn't know about the dishwasher trick. It was even in an issue of Maximum PC and I'm sure you can find it on other sites. Wiping it with an alcohol cleaning cloth is good but only for the surface of the keys and a damp q-tip will take forever and still won't get the sticky out from under the keys. FYI, any electronic can get wet as long as you thoroughly dry it before use. That's the reason why I said make sure the keyboard is easy to disassemble before you even start this little project and have a hair dryer handy. Of course...keyboards are so cheap nowadays you might as well skip over to your local electronics store if it's really that bad and you don't feel like doing any work.

Do NOT put it in the dishwasher and do NOT take off the keys!!! Can't express it enough!! Wet wipes are good lysol or something, and a slightly damp paper towel is good also. I would do that and if is still sticky you can always use a damp q-tip and swipe it to get around the corners.

What I use to safely clean my keyboard is you can pop off the keys easily with a butter knife and then use q-tips dipped in isypropyl {rubbing alcohol) and swab the keys and contacts. Hardest part is putting all the keys back right.

Just dampen a paper towel and swipe it across all of the keys then quickly take a dry paper towel and swipe that across the keys
