Wanting To Build OverFlow and Sump for my Aquarium?

I've been watching videos on Youtube on how to build a overflow and sump . the building process it self seems pretty easy and straight forword, I'm just not sure about what size PVC pipe i should use for my huge Aquarium.

I heard the dimensions of the tank can make a factor in the size of the PVC Overflow so not sure what to use since my tank is really big. The measurements of my tank is( 70"Long x 31"High x 17Wide") 150 gallons .

I have the original pump that came with the aquarium it has a green rubber hose that's maybe a inch wide and 17"inchs long(if This Helps) .It looks to me like it was made for a Sump so I'm pretty sure it's the right amount of Gph for my tank, it seems pretty strong i tried it out.

so if anyone got any ideas or any input please leave a comment and let me know would love to try this out seem like a fun hobby ,

Update:

i made a quick video shot of the aquarium and posted it on youtube to show size of it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUBEvevla1g&feature...

what it looks like inside is only temporally it use to be for my King snake i made him a pond type deal and all this **** looked really nice at the time .since hes gone now i filled up the other side wit bit of water and put a Fluval underwater filter 2 fish. Wanting to go full scale but need to make Overflow and Sump first.

(Since i know someone gonna ask lol. The piece of wood is only there for support don't wanna take a chance of the acrylic giving out till i'm ready to do everything)

i incredibly think of this is basically too small. I incredibly have a seventy 4 gallon tank with a sump and the overflow is approximately 30-40 gallons. And the sump filter out takes up the full cupboard of my tank (this is fairly great). Is your sump throughout the backside of the tank or do you have the subject that hangs on the lower back of the tank?
