Is English a pretty language?
People always say how French and Italian are such smooth, beautiful languages. What is generally thought about English?
I don't only mean French and Italian. Those are just examples.
When I'm older, I want to possibly become a translator, I'm learning Polish now and I'm going to take German in high school, I was just wondering if I talked to somebody who doesn't fluently speak English, what they would think.

I'm Belgian and a native French speaker.
First of all, it is always funny for me to hear people saying French sounds so good. Because most French speaker actually think French is an ugly language (sounds ugly I mean). We find that the "r", "in", "on", "eu", "an" and "un" French sounds are not beautiful at all. So, I'm always happy to hear that most English speakers find it beautiful.
Secondly, for most native French speakers, English is a very smooth language, very "soft" like. It has a good flow. Also, it is a "singing" language: the stresses are totally different from French to English. Where French is a rather "flat" language, English is "singing".
However, quite early in our life, we are getting in touch with English. We're not necessarily learning it, but I mean we're getting used to what it sounds like quite early in our life. So, now, it's quite difficult for me to say wether or not it really is beautiful. But I can tell you for sure that most French speakers think that English words sound better, more classy, more "YEAH"-like, if you know what I'm saying.
As for the learning process, I find English a very easy language to learn. It has very easy rules compared to French. However, English is a mix of old French, old German and some other old anglo-saxon dialects (if I'm not mistaken), that's why they are still many similarities between French and English. And so it might be easier for French speakers to learn English. The tricky part for most French speakers (not all of them) is to speak it, because the "stress system" is COMPLETELY different. Also, the English "r" and "th" sounds are often challenging for French speakers. I personally have no problem with English. I'd say the hardest thing with English is that, when you see a word written, that you have never heard, you can only guess how it's pronounced but you will only be sure once you heard it. Whereas in French, if you know the pronunciation rules, you'll be able to pronounce virtually any word you see written.

In my opinion, English is more like German, you know, a "business language". Not like French or Italian, because I think those languages are for romantic stuff, poems or something like that.

No. Maybe some accents sound nicer than others, but the language itself is weird and erratic, even phonologically. It's a mongrel language, which explains why it is both so weird, difficult to learn, and versatile all at once.
