I want to put a Blu-ray drive in this computer but Dell says it can't handle it. What would have to be changed so that it could handle one? A new computer is not in the budget.
I just want to be able to use software that is loaded on a Blu-ray disc. I am not interested in watching movies with it.

Not interested in using blu-rays??? Err, why are you buying it just for the software.
My Dimension 4600 has some SATA connections, which means the Blu-Ray drive might work if it's compatible with older SATA generations. What it does lack is the hardware to actually use the blu-ray drive.
