How old is the oldest vegetarian or vegan you know?

I am looking to find the person that has been not eaten meat for the longest time.

at this time I know a person that was vegetarian and has not eaten any meat fish beef chicken ham ect... for 65 years. Do you know any one that made it longer?

I am only 52 and have been from birth and my mother who was 68 when she died of other health reasons was vegetarian sence the age of 3 so I was wondering if you know any body that has been for more than 10 years and if longer do you mind letting me know about them. I would love the short 2 paragraphs about these persons and if you know anyone that has been more than 65 years I think it is time we start trying ro the genus world book of records

Update:

Thank you keep them coming this is what I was looking for! You know that is wonderful to see those who are that old and actually know about eating healthy and living long because of it! Hope I can keep my health so that I can live that long. Lord willing with health.

Meh .. I kinda echo Cupcake's answer. I'm not sure my vegetarianism (of 13 years) has much to do with the fact that I look younger than my 53 years. I also walk a lot, don't smoke, drink alcohol in moderation and have found a personal philosophy/spiritual path that helps me live a fairly stress free life. I am a healthy weight for my height. Or it could be my genes? Bottom line is I feel better eating vegetarian. And it fits my ethical position. If it helps me live longer, well, that's just great of course. But I think my personal experience isn't going to give you the definitive answers you need. As for advice, a varied diet (mine's a bit heavy on the dairy, but that won't be a problem for you), healthy lifestyle and listen to your body. If you feel weak, tired, unwell then no matter what other people say or what scientific research suggests then you need to reassess things. If you feel fit and healthy, have good energy levels, sleep well and cope with studying then you're probably doing it right. Good luck! .

I have personally been a vegetarian (ovo/lacto) for 13 years. I quit eating meat when I was 10 years old, and am 23 now, so I'm just not old enough to be a multi-decade vegetarian (I will be someday though). My mom is not a true vegetarian, but has been a "pescetarian" for over 30 years (she is 61 and healthier than most people half her age). I don't know why she is against eating all other animals but fish, but to each their own I guess. Over 30 years she has saved hundreds, if not thousands, of cows, chickens, turkeys, pigs ect...from being born into a life of cruelty. It is still a commendable act. Other than my mom being a semi-vegetarian, there's really no one else I know who doesn't eat meat besides myself. I've had friends over the years who became vegetarian/vegan for short periods of time, but went back to eating meat because they weren't eating a healthy meat-free diet and started feeling sick (naturally they blamed it on not eating meat, instead of the junk food diet they were eating).

My grandmother is 83, and she's never eaten meat. She's lacto-vegetarian. Her mother lived to be 99 (estimate, didn't really keep records under the British Raj...actually, my parents are pretty lucky that they even have birth certificates), and she also never ate meat, also lacto-vegetarian.

My family health history kinda sucks, too much heart disease and risk of strokes. My mom has to have surgery because of it (she's lacto-veg, never ate meat either). That's why I say that just because you're vegetarian doesn't automatically make you healthy. Family doesn't do processed foods that often, maybe once a month.

Monks. Just study the history and now. That will give you the best idea of what real veganism is and what it effects in long term.
