HELP! Caring for a Rabbit, Possibly With Bed Bugs?

My friend's house needs to be fumigated because there are bed bugs and he's asked us to watch his pet rabbit while that's happening. Will the rabbit be ok if we keep it in its cage in our garage with two heaters and some towels or blankets around the cage? Any other tips? We want the rabbit to be safe but we can't risk getting bed bugs in our own house too :( Any advice would be appreciated!

Bed bugs don't live on animals, but they will live in the cage, bedding and feed bag and spread to your house. If you must keep their pet, ask that it be housed in a plastic pet carrier and check it upon arrival. Use your own rags for bedding and throw them away after use. For food, use theirs but accept only food that is given to you in large sealed ziplocs. If this is too much of a hassle, tell them to board it for the duration.

Just clean the cage and all the things that go with it! You could even wash the rabbit then you could keep it inside. But I suppose if you needed to you could keep the rabbit in the garage with heaters but that depends on where you live (how cold it is) For example if you live in Hawaii or somewhere warm then you could but if you live in Canada with -40 weather then you have to keep it in the house!
